Candidate for: Mooresville Commissioner at Large
Occupation: Assistant Vice President and Managing Officer Carter Bank and Trust Mooresville
Education: B.S. in business administration, Pfeiffer University

What are the biggest issues facing your constituency?
Being a commissioner-at-large, the entire town is my constituency.  The biggest issues are:  a) the proposed purchase of the Adelphia Cable system; b) inter-basin transfers of water and sewer; c) managing growth and d) economic development.

Of those issues, which do you feel is the most important?
All of the above issues are extremely important.  The Adelphia purchase may be decided before the election in November.  I am opposed to the proposed MI connection and feel the taxpayers’ money should not be at risk for such a speculative venture.  While economic development is always a major issue, I am concerned that the town will create a $70 million debt. Cable should be an enterprise for the private sector.

What, if any, prior experience do you have that will help you if elected?
Two terms—eight years experience as a town commissioner.  Thirty years experience in the banking industry and a lifelong resident of Mooresville.  Multiple years experience on various boards and community involvement.

What is one particular thing you think the council is doing right? Doing wrong?
Doing right:  The Board has worked hard to make the town a desirable place to live and work.  The entire town should be proud of the recent distinction for being a good place to live and for economic development.

Doing wrong:  The tax rate and the town’s spending is out of control.  The water and sewer rates are too high.
