Is your life spectacular in Iredell County? What are some day-to-day activities or exciting events that occur is that area? How do you dream of Iredell County looking like in 10 years or 50 years? Well, I’m going t6o define all these things through my eyes.
What day-to-day activities make up my life in Iredell County? Of course its basketball and gymnastics! Every Sunday and Wednesday I have basketball practice with my AAU team, the Lakers. I also practice at home with my dad almost every day. When I’m not shooting hoops, I’m at the Gym Company every Monday for gymnastics. With my coach helping me, I’m improving everyday. Also, Tuesdays and Fridays after school, I’m involved in with the G.R.R. Club. We are conditioning to run a 5k. There are about seventy-five girls in this club who have committed themselves to getting fit. I enjoy every minute of it! When I’m not busy with these amazing activities, I’m at home riding bikes, playing with my dogs or hanging out with my friends.
There are many neighborhoods, shopping areas and also a fast growing population that make up the area of Iredell. There are many beautiful homes and neighborhoods on the lake such as The Point, The Farms and The Harbor. I live at The Point. My neighborhood is neat in that it has just about everything. It sits on Lake Norman. We also have pools, tennis courts, a gym and a beautiful golf course. I love and appreciate all it has to offer! When I first moved to The Point four years ago, I never would have dreamed that there would be as much growth as there is today. Back then, you would drive down a two lane street lined with older farm homes on lots of vacant land, abandoned buildings and there were also many single wide trailer homes. You would never have guessed that Brawley School Road would have lead into such pretty neighborhoods with a resort like feel. Today, many of these old farm houses and trailers are being relocated or burned down to make room for the much needed Brawley expansion. They are making way for new shopping centers and retail space. All this is a result of all the growth we are experiencing!
Now that you know what Iredell looks like know, have you ever wondered what it will look like in 10 years? Or maybe even 50 years? In 10 years I’m sure we will be where Huntersville is today. We will have all the shopping and retail we need but we most likely will not have the proper roads to get us there in a timely manner. I believe all the land around the lake will be build up with big, beautiful waterfront homes. I also believe that the growth will move up towards the northern part of Iredell County. We will continue to see construction for the next fifty years. By then, I’m positive all the construction will be completed and the roads will be widened so that traffic is minimized. Along with new and improved shops and neighborhoods, Iredell County will always s continue to be peaceful and beautiful.
Last, do I think what Iredell County looks like now coincides with what it will look like in 10 or 50 years? Of course not, because everything will be completed. Lots of changes will take place between those 10 and 50 years. We will definitely see more retail and many more neighborhoods. The neat thing about Iredell is that what ever they build they try to keep a lot of its natural beauty. You will always find lots of trees in every neighborhood you go to. All the new shopping centers have lots of pretty plants and flowers. Because of this careful planning and the beautiful scenery, more and more people will be moving into the County, increasing our population more than it ever was before! This is a good thing because it will bring new families and new faces.
Now that I’ve explained what I do in Iredell, what Iredell looks like, and most importantly, the difference of Iredell now and in the years to come, I hope you can see it the way I do. I have grown to love this county for its beauty and for what it has yet to bring. The changes are happening and will keep happening for a long time to come. Through my eyes, these changes are exciting and promising. I love where I live and I hope to continue to be a part of the changing Iredell County. I could not imagine living any where else!!!
