I’ve lived in Iredell County my whole life. It’s been great to see this county grow so much. Since I’ve been here I’ve seen new restaurants built, churches, movie theaters and schools. We also have Lake Norman which is one of the greatest places to hang out in the summer. You can go tubing, water skiing, wake boarding and swimming.
I look forward to the Pumpkin Festival every year. It’s got rides, mini stores, bands and pumpkin contests. Iredell County also has many historic sites, like Fort Dobbs which is where there was a war against Indians and there are artifacts and arrowheads that you can buy and find because of that war.
There is like every kind of restaurant here. There’s Sonic, O’Charley’s, Steak n Shake, Chilies, Wendy’s, Cook out and Chik-Fil-A, there are more than I can think of! We also have a Target, malls, bowling allies, and Wal-Mart.
If Iredell County keeps growing the way it has in the past five years, in fifty years it could become a large city like charlotte with skyscrapers and big businesses. But there is also downtown Statesville it hasn’t changed much which I really like. There are old stores and sidewalks with parks it’s my favorite place in Iredell County.
There are many nice places to live like “The Point” and on the lake. But there are also small towns like Harmony that don’t have very many big businesses. The city of Statesville is making a free civic center with a workout gym; swimming pool and many other things that you could do all year round. I am hoping that will attract many more people to come and visit or even stay. This is one of the greatest places to live and I think whoever moves here would love it and want to settle down here for a long time just like I have.
