IREDELL IN TRANSITION

A look at our growing county

‘Other than traffic, I think of Iredell County as a swell county’

Elizabeth Davis, 8th grade, Woodlawn School

Every early week day morning, I stir to life at 6:45, whack the snooze button, and freak out when I stir again at 7:15 and suddenly realize that I have overslept thirty minutes. My destination? To the place where I spend nearly half of my life. To the place where I absorb the information necessary to grow up and take care of myself. To the place where I attend school. I am going to Iredell County.

Iredell County is a huge part of my life. So much of what I know, I have learned there. If I’m not in school, I may be shopping in an area of Mooresville, or watching the curiosities of the annual balloon festival in Statesville. I am always able to discover something interesting around each and every corner. Of course, change will follow time. One can only imagine what Iredell will blossom into in five, ten - even fifty years. If I could devise an even better county I would focus mainly on a solution to less traffic. A perfect solution to the traffic issue may be hard to pinpoint exactly, but I can definitely envision hope for at least some improvement.

Other than traffic, I think of Iredell County as a swell county. As I myself, grow up and change with time, I will be able to follow the gradual changes of this area too. All that’s left to do now is just sit back and wait to see what happens.
