Christine Wirt, Grade 6, Brawley Middle School
I wouldn’t want to live anywhere other than Iredell County, along with many thousands of people moving ehre. The day to day quality of life, highlights of the area, and what I would like our county to look like 10 and even 50 years from now are a few details I will share.
I am fortunate to attend an award winning middle school in southern Iredell County. Brawley Middle School is a Blue Ribbon and NC Honor School of Excellence which sits on the Brawley Peninsula of Lake Norman in beautiful Mooresville. I am a competition cheerleader who practices with Race City Allstars, convenient to my middle school. The squads in our gym have received national awards! During our summer months, that average 80 degrees, I am swimming, golfing, biking, playing tennis, and participating in neighborhood summer camps. What more could I ask for?
Lake Norman is a water-lover’s playground enjoyed by Iredell County residents. Bass tournaments are held here, families enjoy boating, tubing, water skiing, wakeboarding, and camping on Lake Norman. The NC Motorsports Hall of Fame and 50% of NASCAR’s race teams call Iredell County, home.
Ten years from now, I hope Lake Norman stays as clean as it is now. I would like for our schools and roadways to catch up with the growth. Ideally, we will have a new mall within Iredell County. 50 years from now, I believe most of the existing farm land will be developed, but the charm of Iredell County will remain.
