Maranda Bolick, 7th grade, Statesville Christian
There are many exciting things in Iredell County. I came to Statesville about three years ago so I don’t know too much about Statesville but I have loved every minute. I go to Statesville Christian School and live about two and a half miles from my school. I stay active in sports- volleyball, basketball and cheerleading so it is great that I live close so I can be there quickly. I also love going to the driving range. It is also very close to my house and hitting golf balls with my brother. Also a lot of families and kids from Statesville Christian live in my neighborhood, so it is always fun.
I also live very close to Fort Dobbs- which is a historic site, many days I hear gunshots and cannon ball shootings going off from all of the exciting activities that take place there daily. There are also many exciting celebrations such as the Balloon Festival, Fall Fair, Pumpkin Festival, the lighting of the Christmas tree in downtown Statesville and the Art Crawl. I love going to the Art crawl which also takes place in downtown Statesville, it is very fun to see all of the wonderful art work and meet new people! Another attraction is the plays that we have in Statesville. Statesville Christian School has put on many wonderful plays! Just a couple of days ago the play Fiddler on the Roof took place and it was great! Many others such as Annie, Once upon a mattress and Guys and dolls.
In Statesville there are many beautiful landscapes and farms. I just love being able to drive down roads and see cows and horses so I can appreciate the true beauty our county has. Another great thing about Statesville is that all of the parents are really nice! They are always willing to help me out with anything I need!
We have many great restaurants to choose from such as; Chick-fil-A, Cookout, Outback, Chopsticks, Arby’s, Subway, Shiki, Jay-Bees, Kats Patch, Almofies, Chilis, Quiznos, McDonalds and a lot of great places where my friends and I can hang out! In the future of Iredell County I would very much like to see a recycling system. In my neighborhood we do not have one, so we have to throw away all of our water bottles, soft drink cans and newspaper. I’m not very big on saving the ecosystem, but I still think that it is important to dispose of things the right way. I think Statesville has a great reputation and I love being able to live in this wonderful county!
