Emma Haupt, Woodlawn School
In Iredell County, my day-to-day activities include school, basketball games and just driving through.
When I pass by, most of the areas I notice seem old. Most of the older places look run down and past their prime, yet some of the places seem interesting and unique. Downtown Mooresville and historic sites in Statesville are all under the small umbrella of remaining unique, old places in Iredell. In the next ten years, I would like to see people beginning to care more about the demeanor of the county. To give more attention to unique parts of Iredell by restoring them would ensure a quainter look, and to create a nicer air in some places of the county, people could begin reconstructing the older, not so nice places. Fifty years from now I expect the county modernized and looking newer. However, not all the places in the county appear old.
Some places that I appreciate are the Davidson Lake Campus, Lake Norman State Park, my school, and the shops in downtown Mooresville. Some wonderful restaurants and the bakery, La Patisserie, that I enjoy are also in downtown Mooresville.
I presume that Iredell County will continue to blossom and hopefully become a better place to reside in years to come.
