Karla Causey is slated to perform at La Dolce Vita in downtown Statesville on Friday. In the meantime we sat down with the local singer-songwriter to discuss her inspirations and aspirations.

Karla, Congratulations. I can only imagine how excited you must be. I say “imagine” because my path has been through thorny bushes. George Joye (a pitiful example of a Statesville resident), Tommy Church, and myself started a musical group in the late sixties. You may have heard of us and if you have please let me know what the group’s name was (I have forgotten). Regardless, our debut proved to be disappointing because no one showed up, not even our drummer (He didn’t want to miss the last show of the season of Hogan’s Heroes.)Huh - where was I ? Oh, congratulations once more from Newburyport, MA. I’ll keep an ear out for you.
