Candidate for: Troutman Board of Aldermen
Occupation: Physician liaison at Iredell Memorial Hospital
Education: B.A. in early childhood education; M.A. in counseling
What are the biggest issues facing your constituency?
Troutman is in the throes of tremendous growth. We have to grow to sustain as a town, seperate from Statesville and Mooresville, yet we don’t want to grow too fast and lose our identity.
Of those issues, which do you feel is the most important?
There is only one issue at this point- planned and controlled growth. Economic development is an interest for me, in that we need to find our niche to attract business and employment and create revenue. I have a vision for that and we’ll see what happens. I think it is really exciting for Troutman because we have some things other areas do not have. I believe our future is extremely promising.
What, if any, prior experience do you have that will help you if elected?
I have served on the board for 4 years and I’m aware of the projects at hand and where we need to go.
What is one particular thing you think the board is doing right?
We are communicating much better than in the past. We are having workshops and really digging through information and exploring every angle.
What is one particular thing you think the board is doing wrong?
I really don’t know. I think we are doing a great job and giving up alot of our personal time. I want to thank my fellow board members, mayor and manager for all of the dedication.
