Iredell athletes, coaches honored by NPC

Five athletes and four coaches from Iredell County schools earned top honors from the North Piedmont 3A.
Mooresville pulled off a partial sweep in boys track. Patrick Campbell shared the runner of the year award with West Rowan’s Justin Avery, while Jake Deaton won field event athlete of the year and Michael Serefine was named the top coach.
Mooresville’s Josh Nelson was named boys golfer of the year, while Lake Norman’s Scott Sarvis won the coaching honor.
Lake Norman’s Andrew McKinnon took the boys tennis player of the year, with Mooresville’s Tim Smith winning the coaching distinction.
Mooresville’s Maddy Knowland was named field event athlete of the year in girls track, while Lake Norman’s Jon Mertes shared top coaching honors in girls soccer with Northwest Cabarrus’ Harold Von Klahr.
