Lions move into SPAA semifinals

Statesville Christian rolled to a win Tuesday in the first round of the Southern Piedmont Athletic Association tournament, beating United Faith Christian 65-17.
The Lions (14-10) outscored United Faith 20-2 in the first quarter to take control. Logan Bearfield scored a game-high 21 points and pulled down seven rebounds in the win.
Drew Burgiss recorded a double-double for SCS, scoring 11 points and dishing out 10 assists. She also had five steals.
The Lions will face Victory Christian in Thursday’s semifinals.
