BOYS BASKETBALL: Academy of Excellence 63, Crossroads Christian 55
Academy of Excellence slips past CrossroadsFrom staff reports Melvin Mayberry scored 21 points and pulled down 11 rebounds Friday to lead Academy of Excellence to a 63-55 win over Crossroads Christian. Raynard Turner (13 points, 11 rebounds) also recorded a double-double for Academy of Excellence, with teammate Deshon Burch adding 11 points and five assists. Rashard Wasson rounded out the double-figure scorers for Academy of Excellence (9-4). He tossed in 14 points. Daniel Proffitt paced Crossroads with a game-high 24 points.
