Baseball team still has a shot at playoffsBy Brian Meadows Despite having only one win in its first seven conference games, Statesville is just two games back of sixth-place North Iredell in the North Piedmont 3A baseball standings. The league gets six playoff berths. Statesville resumes play Tuesday when it hosts Carson. The Greyhounds (1-6 NPC) are 0-2 all-time against the Cougars. Carson (4-3 NPC) clinched a playoff berth in the program’s first year by defeating Statesville 13-9 the last time these two met, May 1, 2007.
