Basketball league organizes meetings

The Statesville Recreation and Parks Department is making plans for the 2007-2008 Men’s Basketball Program. Two leagues are being offered: Men’s Open and Men’s Industrial. Participants in the Industrial League must be full-time employees of the sponsoring industry.

Organizational meetings for the Men’s Basketball Program will be held at 6 p.m. on Thursday and Oct. 15 at Grace Park Recreation Center, 510 W. Bell St. All industries, businesses, organizations, or individuals interested in entering a team in one of the two leagues must have a representative attend one of the two meetings. Plans for the season will be discussed, including fees, dates, deadlines, rules and rule changes for the 2007-2008 season.

The league entry fee is $165 per team and $135 for each additional team entered by the same sponsor. Entry fees must be received in the Recreation and Parks Department Administrative Office at 450 Signal Hill Drive by 5 p.m. on Nov. 15.

League play is tentatively scheduled to begin in early December. For more information, contact the Statesville Recreation and Parks Department at (704) 878-3429.
