Garrett Braun didn’t get the decision on the mound Wednesday in the Wildcats’ 4-3 win over North Iredell, but given the circumstances, his performance was plenty impressive.
The senior hurler, who had been held off the mound all season by an injury, made his first start of the season against the Raiders and allowed two runs — none earned — while striking out four batters in 3 2-3 innings.
“He didn’t know he was starting until we got here at the field, but he came out and did a great job,” Wildcats coach Robert Little said. “I was really proud of him.”
Braun’s return could bode well for Lake Norman, as the right-hander made the R&L all-county team as a pitcher last season.
