Statesville’s girls basketball team had yet to lose in its home white uniforms prior to Friday night’s 73-65 loss to Forestview in the 3A Western Regional semifinals.
The Greyhounds (28-3) rallied from a 16-point fourth-quarter deficit to within 67-65 but couldn’t get over the hump against the Jaguars, who finished 30-1 after losing in Saturday’s regional final.
“They refused to give up,” Statesville coach Todd Jones said.
“I wouldn’t trade my girls for that win, I promise you that. I think I’ve got the best girls in the world.”
