Consistent season earns Vikings a regional berthBy BRAD NORMAN
They’ll go as a team this time. The Vikings were near the top of the Southern Pied-mont 1A-2A standings all season and will play in Monday’s 2A Mid-west Regional as the SPC’s No. 2 team. “This is the first time in a number of years that we’ve made it as a team,” South coach David Foster said. “We’ve had individual players make it, but as a team, it’s been a while. I think they’re excited about that.” An attribute that has carried South this far is high personal expectations — that is particularly true for No. 1 golfer Clay Brown and No. 2 golfer Mark Powell. “They both expect to make birdie on every hole,” Foster said.
