Mooresville’s Mark Fobare will never forget his round of golf played at nearby The Warrior Golf Club late last month. He has one unforgettable shot to thank for that.
Playing in a threesome at the course just inside the Rowan County line a few miles east of Mooresville Sept. 21, Fobare made it stand out by recording the first hole-in-one of his golfing career.
Fobare struck a five iron to cover the required 177 yards of official distance at the par-71 public course’s 12th hole, the first of two par-three holes on the facility’s back nine. The shot traveled down the hill and into the hole for the rare ace. It was also Fobare’s first “one” recorded on his personal scorecard of his career.
The ace was reported by The Warrior Club’s Andrew Beaver, a member of the course’s Professional Golf Association staff.
