Former Lake Norman standout set to return next seasonBy BRIAN MEADOWS Tia wants to come back and graduate from Lake Norman and have a chance to get a (championship) ring,” said Mertes, whose team hosts Southwest Guilford on Wednesday in the third round of the 3A state playoffs. Tia’s family moved to Mississippi after her sophomore year, when the midfielder joined her older sister, Kelly, on the R&L all-county team.
