Fresh off big win, Wildcats are ready for rematch

By BRIAN MEADOWS

Lake Norman’s baseball program won its first playoff game Friday when it stunned Southeast Guilford 6-5 in the opening round of the 3A state playoffs.

The victory over the 2007 3A state runner-up gave the Wildcats a rematch against Southwest Guilford, which defeated Lake Norman 1-0 in the first round last year.

The teams meet again tonight at Southwest Guilford.

“A little redemption would make us feel good, but more importantly we’re trying to advance,” Wildcats coach Robert Little said.

Left-hander Scottie Williams is scheduled to take the hill against the Cowboys. It will be the sophomore’s fourth start.
