Freshman Smith sets the pace for Mooresville

By the time freshman Courtney Smith graduates, several of Mooresville’s records in girls soccer may be unreachable.

Smith’s hat trick against North Iredell last week gave her 24 goals, setting a new single-season record.

“Courtney gets it there and just tucks it in,” Blue Devils coach Steve Stith said. “I’ve never seen her rip a shot in, she just tucks it right away. If we play a couple of playoff games, she could get 50 goals this year.”
