West’s disappointing baseball season ended Monday with a 7-4 loss to Carson. The Warriors fin-ished 8-15 (5-13 NPC).
Looking back, veteran coach Buck Gatton pinpointed a few things he might have done differently, highlighted by trimming the roster.
“We possibly kept too many people,” Gatton said. “Not everybody was in the game that ought to have been. … We had a lot of unhappy people that didn’t get the playing time they wanted. They made it miserable for others.”
Gatton was pleased by his team’s performance down the stretch given its slim odds of qualifying for the playoffs. The Warriors won three of their final five games.
