North Iredell’s golf team played one of its best matches of the year Monday, breaking the 200-stroke barrier for the second time this season.
The four-player score of 199 tied for the Raiders’ lowest score of the season, and it was the lowest since Tami Ramsey took over after former coach Shannon Ashley was named the school’s football coach.
“I’m enjoying it, I really am,” Ramsey said of her new position. “I told the school I would coach the girls team next year, too. I’m learning a lot and getting to play with the kids every day.”
Josh Koenig again carded the lowest score for the Raiders, finishing with a 47.
He had some help this time as Travis Cartner fired a 49, his lowest of the year. That duo gave the Raiders a pair of sub-50 finishers for the first time since the season opener March 10.
“Josh has been our steady No. 1 the last few matches,” Ramsey said. “And Travis was pleased by his score. We’re improving little by little. That’s all I’m asking right now, just try to improve your personal score.”
