West’s baseball team competed in its first Easter tournament in seven years Monday and Tuesday.
“It was good for us just to be able to go play,” West coach Buck Gatton said. “It was nice.”
The scores weren’t so pleasant, however, as Hopewell and Bandys combined to outscore the Warriors 23-6 in the Carolina Trust Bank Easter Tournament in Lincolnton.
West used to host an Easter tournament, but stopped after the 2001 competition.
Gatton said he misses those days, “but we’re considering trying to get another Easter tournament going.”
