Statesville’s boys tennis team defeated Northwest Cabarrus on Wednesday for its third victory in as many matches. The run also included a pair of 9-0 wins over North and South Iredell.

“It’s a good little winning streak we’ve got,” coach Mike Williams said, “so hopefully we can keep it up.”

The Greyhounds (3-2, 2-1 NPC) host Mooresville on Monday in a match that will likely decide who finishes second in the NPC and gets the league’s last playoff berth.

“That’s exactly what it’s going to settle,” said Williams, who reluctantly noted he will be without Luke Gillis, his No. 2 singles player.
