Hounds play shorthanded, avenge loss to Falcons

MT. ULLA — Statesville scored three shorthanded goals in the second half Wednesday to beat West Rowan 5-2.

Statesville goalkeeper Melodi Graves received a red card in the 20th minute, and the Greyhounds played with one fewer players on the field than West Rowan for the final 60 minutes.

Mary Chandler Armistead, Katie Register and Heather Wilemon scored after the break to help Statesville (6-5-2, 6-4 North Piedmont 3A) avenge a 4-2 loss to the Falcons earlier this season.

Sarah Ann Waugh scored a pair in the first half, which ended tied a 2-all.

Fran Armistead, Storm Mayberry and Cassie Wodecki pitched in with assists.
