Iredell schools sending four tennis players to state tournamentFrom staff reports MOORESVILLE — Four players from Iredell County high schools have qualified for the upcoming 3A state individual boys tennis championships. Lake Norman’s Trey McKee and Andrew McKinnon qualified in singles thanks to a pair of straight-sets victories Friday in the West Regional. Statesville’s Luke Gillis and Tripp Hawkins won two regional doubles matches to advance, as well. McKee defeated Forestview’s Justin Henry 6-1, 6-1 and then North Buncombe’s Justin Min 6-1, 7-5. McKinnon toppled North Buncombe’s Seth Fox 6-1, 6-3 and then Forestview’s Panos Harakas 6-2, 6-1. Gillis and Hawkins picked up a pair of 6-0, 6-1 wins over Forestview’s George Zhao and Rob Arend and Mooresville’s Neil Trimble and Marshall Horsman. Bookmarkz |
