Lake Norman’s boys tennis team defeated Mooresville 7-2 Wednesday in a battle for first place in the NPC.
The Wildcats, 11-0 overall (5-0 NPC) entering Monday’s match with South Rowan, are zeroing in on the program’s first league title.
“We control our own destiny, but there’s four more teams in the way,” coach Chris Carroll said. “We’ve got to play up every week in this conference.”
Timmy Johnson and Matt Dowell needed 7-5 second-set wins to clinch victories in their singles matches against Mooresville.
“As you move on in the season, even the teams that we’ve played so far, you’re not going to get easy points and easy victories; you’re going to have to fight for it,” Carroll said.
