Lions advance to state championshipsStatesville Christian made the most of its 280-mile trek east Tuesday, beating Ridgecroft School 4-1 to advance in the state tournament. The Lions (13-7) will next play on Friday in Wilson in the semifinals of the N.C. Independent Schools Athletic Association 2A state tournament. James Dawson did the damage for Statesville Christian, scoring all four goals in the first half. Carter Cornelius and Garrison Dale added assists.
