What slump?

The bats for South Iredell’s softball team have awoken with a fury over the past two games, both Vikings wins.

“The stretch where we were losing close games, we had a couple players that performed well at the plate, and a lot that probably went 0-for-15 or 1-for-15, something like that,” South Iredell coach Josh Bumgarner said.

But the Vikings have rediscovered their power at the plate, especially in the middle part of the lineup.

“Our best hitters are our No. 3 and No. 4 hitters,” Bumgarner said. “Devan Poff and Kathleen Pasquarella ... both went through kind of a small slump, but they definitely have some power.”

Pasquarella and Poff have combined to go 13-for-16 over the past week as South takes aim at a 2A playoff spot.
