Mooresville drivers at top of SCCA
It’s beginning to look more and more like a one-two finish for the season for Mooresville drivers in the Southeast Division of the Sports Car Club of America.
Based on what took place earlier this month, area drivers Barry Durham and teammate Garry Hill took major steps closer to owning the top two spots in the SCCA division with just one more event left in the regular season.
Durham, who entered the recent event at Eagles Nest atop the standings, used his performance in that affair to sew up the SCCA Southeast Division championship regardless of what takes place in early next month’s finale.
As for Hill, he followed in his teammate’s footsteps to conjure up a second-place finish in the Eagle’s Nest schedule stop, a performance that also moved him into the runner-up spot in the SCCA Southeast Division’s updated points standings.
Both area-based pilots used the latest achievements to help boost their potential for a one-two team finish in the overall season championship heading into the finale.
The two will be gunning for that billing when helping comprise the field for the last regular season that will take place at the Roebling Road Raceway in Bloomingdale, Ga., near Savannah that will take place over the upcoming weekend.
