Moose pulls double duty to lead Hounds to first NPC win
FROM STAFF REPORTS
David Moose slapped an RBI single in the bottom of the sixth inning Monday to lift Statesville to a 3-2 win over West Rowan.
Moose also did the bulk of the pitching for the Greyhounds (2-6 overall, 1-4 North Piedmont 3A), allowing two runs and two hits in five innings.
Josh Booher got the win, tossing two scoreless innings and allowing one hit. Booher also had a double and scored a run, while Hunter Gay added a run-scoring single.
Quaylen Whitaker was resourceful to help Statesville rally from a 1-0 deficit in the bottom of the third. He reached base on a walk, then advanced on a bunt and a passed ball before scoring on a swinging strikeout.
