Morris, Shelton will be busy at track regional
By Brad Norman
Jasmine Morris and Amy Shelton will both compete in two events at Saturday’s 3A track and field West Regionals at Asheville Roberson.
Morris will run the 100-meter dash and take part in the long jump. She also qualified in the 200-meter, but elected to focus on two events.
After a fourth-place finish in the 110-meter hurdles at the North Piedmont 3A meet, Shelton eked out a win in the 300-meter hurdles by 0.2 seconds.
“The last couple of meets, she’s done better in the 300,” North coach Darla Cline said. “She was very excited.”
North qualified in seven other events, including Anna Beth Parlier’s late-season qualifying time in the 800-meter run.
“I know Anna Beth Parlier worked very hard to get her time down to where she could move on,” Cline said.
