New additions will be key for Statesville tennis teamBy BRIAN MEADOWS The additions include sophomore Ben Cartner and freshman Kirk Williamson, who transferred from Statesville Christian. Cartner has a few family ties to the school’s tennis program. His older sister, Mary Bruce, is a former doubles state champion. She also helped the Greyhounds girls team win a state title in 2001. “Four, five and six (singles) are kind of up in the air,” Williams said, ” … but I’ve been pleasantly surprised with a lot of these guys.” Bookmarkz |
