Competitors came from Virginia, Maryland, Hawaii, North Carolina and West Virginia for the aerobic gymnastics competition, which combines gymnastics, dance and fitness.

“I was so excited when I heard my name after first place winner,” Kelly said. “It made me feel like everything I have worked hard for had finally paid off.”

Kelly is in her second year of competition. Her winning routine was set to Cobra Starship’s “Send my Love to the Dance Floor.”

She trains locally at Everest Gymnastic in Huntersville and by herself at the Lowe’s YMCA in Mooresville.

“I am very determined of reaching my goals, and never let my setbacks or obstacles get in the way of my success or dreams,” Kelly said.
She will compete in Nationals and Internationals this July in Las Vegas. The top three from Nationals will go on to Worlds in 2009 representing the United States.
