Eight of the Statesville boys tennis team’s final nine regular-season matches are against NPC opponents, but winning another league championship will be harder than returning an Andy Roddick serve.
Greyhounds coach Mike Williams said the March 20 loss to Lake Norman essentially took them out of the conference title picture but that second place is a realistic possibility.
“Basically, my goal this year was to make the playoffs,” Williams said. “I think if we don’t lose any more conference matches we’ll be set there.”
The NPC gets two playoff bids.
