Pennell shines as Warriors shut out Devils

Hannah Pennell carried a no-hitter into the fifth inning and West Iredell cruised to a 7-0 win over Mooresville on Wednesday.
Pennell struck out 17 and allowed one hit to pick up the win.
Crystal Beam, Kaylyn Chapman, Kara Dawkins and Kendayl Waugh each had two hits for the Warriors (5-4, 4-3 North Piedmont 3A), who are in fourth place in the conference.
Dawkins, who matched Waugh’s two runs scored, belted a pair of doubles.
A.J. Campbell broke up Pennell’s no-hitter in the fifth inning for Mooresville’s only hit of the game.
The Warriors’ weather-postponed game with East Rowan on Thursday has not yet been rescheduled.
