Raiders in search of a second option on the moundBy BRAD NORMAN “Having him back is huge,” coach Matthew Poole said. “When he’s on the mound, we should be in good shape.” Finding a No. 2 pitcher is the bigger issue, and the Raiders will turn to either Marcus Ferguson or Nick Burwell. Ferguson is an outfielder with great range who was a situation relief pitcher last year, and Burwell showed some promise after a late call-up from the junior varsity team. “More than likely, Marcus Ferguson will be our No. 2,” Poole said. “Nick Burwell could step into that No. 2 role if he shows up and works hard.” Bookmarkz |
