In addition to going 2-for-3, driving in three runs and making two great defensive plays, Tyler Jordan took the mound for an inning during Monday’s 10-7 win over South Iredell.

His line wasn’t great — two walks, two hits and three earned runs — but being on the mound benefited his squad.

With three games scheduled this week, coach Matthew Poole turned to position players Jordan and Chris Bustle to eat up some innings.

“We need to save innings,” Poole said. “We put them in there to see what they could do. It’s always good to save your pitching and still get the win to keep that confidence rolling.”
