North Iredell senior Amanda Robinson’s high school tennis career ended last fall at the conclusion of the girls tennis season.
Kind of.
Robinson’s playing career for the Raiders is over, but she’s taken on a large role in helping coach Jason Evans train and develop some of the boys players.
“I’m hitting with them, just kind of teaching the younger ones the rules and hitting techniques, stuff like that,” Robinson said. “I think it’s a good thing for me.”
The Raiders lost their top four players due to graduation, a group that included the talented No. 1 player Travis Van Hoy.
Last year’s No. 5 and No. 6 seeds, Ethan McKay and Matt Hall, will fill the top two seeds under Evans, who is in his first year at North.
“It’s a huge transition,” Evans said. “We lost a lot of talent. Last year we were senior laden, so obviously after that the next year is going to be rebuilding. When you throw in a new coach with that, it’s just a big change.”
