Scott expected to be the man for Raiders next season

North Iredell will lose four seniors from this year’s boys basketball team, including three who started most of the season.

But junior Tyrece Scott is coming back, and that’s a big reason why coach Tony Davenport is already excited about the future.

“Next year is his year,” Davenport said. “It’s time to be the leader and lead this team. He has to be ready for it.”

Davenport, who has Scott in one of his weight-training classes, is already planning how to utilize his athleticism next year.

“I picture him being on the wing a little more, maybe even running some point for me,” Davenport said. “I need him to have the ball in his hands most of the time. If he tweaks his penetration and develops his jumpshot, he’ll be a more well-rounded player.”
