South Iredell’s tennis team is back in rebuilding mode after losing a whopping eight seniors from last year’s team.
“I basically got my top two players back from last year,” coach Jim McCoy said. “We picked up seven more who range from senior to sophomores, and some of them have never played.”
The two who return — Adam Beam and Warren Boger — made the Regionals last season as a doubles team and hope to advance to states this year.
“Their experience will help,” McCoy said. “They are kids who’ve played for four years.”
East Lincoln (12-3) and North Lincoln (8-6) earned the two playoff spots from the Southern Piedmont 1A-2A last season, and West Lincoln (7-5) was a wild-card entry.
All should be good again.
“A lot of it depends on what the kids have done throughout the year in between seasons, but I’d say East Lincoln will probably be the team to beat,” McCoy said.
