Spangler, Vikings win in extra innings

VALE — Kelsey Spangler helped her own cause with the game-winning hit in the 10th inning Thursday as South Iredell held off West Lincoln 2-1.

Spangler pitched all 10 innings, allowing six hits while striking out five. Her game-winning hit came with two outs.

Kasey Kerley and Laci Graney paced South Iredell with three hits apiece. Graney also scored a run. Devan Poff had two hits, while Amber Graney drove in a run and scored a run.

West Lincoln pitcher Ashley Rhyne allowed 11 hits, but struck out a whopping 21 South Iredell batters in the contest.
