Spangler was good on the mound, even better at the plate against Hounds

Pitcher Kelsey Spangler had one of her best stat lines during Monday’s game against Statesville. The sophomore picked up the win, striking out 12 in a five-inning shutout.

Coach Josh Bumgarner was more impressed with her performance at the plate. Hitting in the No. 7 hole, Spangler nearly hit for the cycle.

“Where she really stood out was at the plate,” Bumgarner said. “She had a 3-for-3 day with a triple, double and single with two RBIs, and she was struggling at the plate before that.”
