Timely hitting helps West Iredell get hot late
By Brian Meadows
West Iredell’s baseball team rides a three-game winning streak into Friday’s game at Mooresville.
Several variables made this successful stretch possible, but perhaps none more important than clutch at-bats.
Brennan Daniels ignited the winning surge April 22, when he drove in the go-ahead run in the bottom of the sixth inning of a 3-2 victory over North Iredell.
Josh Clark’s game-tying, pinch-hit single in the bottom of the seventh set the stage for Will Feimster’s heroics last Friday, when the Warriors rallied to beat Northwest Cabarrus 9-8.
With one out and runners at second and third, Feimster put a 2-2 pitch in play to plate the win-ning run.
Feimster said the game-winning hit is something he will remember for a while.
“It was real exciting,” he said. “I was in the zone. I knew what I had to do and did it.”
