U-8 Cobras take state honors

If it’s true that teams do seem to get better with age, then brighter days are definitely in store for these members of the local-based Carolina Cobras eight-and-under tournament youth baseball team.

In just their third time out in tournament play, the Cobras moved to the head of the class to take top team honors in the Western North Carolina Winter State Championships held in Gastonia and conducted by the United States Specialty Sports Association.

Backed by coaches, from left, John Brock, Tim Nimblett and Juan Perez, players responsible for the feat included, kneeling from left: John David Brock, Scotty Diekman, Jonathan Perez, Harrison Livingston, and Cameron Lawson. Standing, from left: Garrett Jordan, Keegan Nimblett, Kenneth Nusser, Sam Zayicek and Brycen Huffman.
