Vawter a weapon on Wildcats corner kicksBy BRIAN MEADOWS Lauren Vawter takes the bulk of Lake Norman’s corner kicks. She handled all six in the Mooresville game, with each pass well-placed and presenting a high-percentage scoring chance for the Wildcats. Hannah Graham’s one-timer in the 32nd minute off Vawter’s feed from the corner tied the score at 1-all. “She gets some good height on it too, which actually takes the keepers out of the (play),” Lake Norman coach Jon Mertes said. “When you play a lower corner kick, the keepers have a lot more confidence to go after the ball. When it comes in high like that, it makes them like a deer in headlights. We just need to get our head on it more often.” Bookmarkz |
