South’s No. 1 golfer Clay Brown, who carded a 34 earlier in the week, got some help from his teammates during Wednesday’s SPC match.
Brown, Colton Neill and Zach Leaptrott each fired a 38 and South (156 overall) tied for first place with East Lincoln.
The Vikings play Monday at Cherryville Country Club for the first time this season, and the short game will be key.
“I think sometimes, because you play different courses and greens roll so differently, you get used to playing at a certain speed,” Vikings coach David Foster said. “So you end up with a lot of three putts. It’s difficult for young golfers to adjust to the greens.”
