Warriors hammer WildcatsFrom staff reports Kara Dawkins went 3-for-3 with a triple and Hannah Pennell pitched five scoreless innings as West Iredell coasted Friday to a 10-0 North Piedmont 3A win over visiting Lake Norman. The victory avenged a 2-1 loss March 4 and gave the Warriors a season split with the Wildcats. Kaylyn Chapman and Elizabeth Walden added two hits for West (7-5, 6-4 NPC). Pennell struck out nine for the win. She allowed three hits and no walks. West sent eight batters to the plate in the fifth inning, scoring four runs on four consecutive singles. Christy Plyler led the Wildcats (5-8, 5-6 NPC) with a 2-for-2 effort at the plate. Jennifer Stogner suffered the loss, giving up 10 runs — five earned — on 10 hits and a walk. She struck out five.
