Warriors take down NPC power

West Iredell took down a perennial conference power Friday, beating West Rowan 7-3.
The road victory gave the Warriors four straight wins and helped the team atone for a 2-0 loss to the Falcons’ in the teams’ first meeting.
Hannah Pennell went the distance on the mound for West Iredell (9-5 overall, 8-4 North Piedmont 3A), allowing nine hits and striking out eight. Pennell also had three hits at the plate and drove in a run.
Crystal Beam had two hits and drove in three runs for West Iredell, while Hannah Withers and Amber Miller each had two hits and one RBI.
Pinch-runner Brandi Franklin scored three runs for the Warriors, who beat the six-time defending NPC champs for the first time since joining the conference in 2002.
